Water cut off to homes in Morecambe and Heysham due to burst mains

Two burst water mains caused loss of water supplies to some properties in Morecambe and Heysham over the weekend.

United Utilities said the problems started on Saturday when a 15 inch water main burst but this was then resolved.

On Sunday there were further problems when a 12 inch water main burst, causing disruption to supplies again.

A spokesman for United Utilities said: “The areas affected were Balmoral Road, Heysham, Middleton and houses in the LA2 and LA3 areas.

“We brought a water supply in through other pipes and maintained supplies to Heysham 1 and Heysham 2.

“The water supplies were on and off at various times over the weekend.

“Some customers supplies were interrupted and we would apologise for that.”
