LANCASTER war veteran Ernest Wilding has finally been presented with medals honouring his World War Two service.

Mr Wilding, who is 94, received his medals on Saturday at a special afternoon tea at his home in St Leonard’s Court in Alfred Street.

The presentation was the result of Mr Wilding’s family contacting the Ministry of Defence to trace his medals after he mentioned he had not received them.

Capt Simon Wright, along with Warrant Officer Gary Heathwaite, attended the surprise party for Mr Wilding to hand over the medals.
