Help is required from 9pm and continues until the last walkers have returned which could be as late as 4am.

Volunteers will also be required from 8.30pm to make sure all the walkers are registered and refreshments are ready.

Last year more than £120,000 was raised, a record for the St John’s Hospice Moonlight Walk.

Karen Crossley, community fundraiser, said: “Please try and help if you can, without the kindness of our local community who volunteer to help we would not be able to hold events like these.

“It is a wonderful and uplifting event to be a part of and is so much fun too!”
