Eric’s back home!
The Eric Morecambe statue was put back in its rightful place on Morecambe promenade just before 9am today, Thursday.
The statue was lifted into place by a crane, with Lancaster City Council workmen, sculptor Graham Ibbeson and Jerry Hughes from AB Foundry in London on hand to supervise.
Eric was slotted back into place with a ‘clunk’ and raised a cheer from bystanders.
In a very low key unveiling, Graham and Jerry pulled a blanket from Eric’s head.
Passing motorists beeped their horns and cheered to show their appreciation for Eric’s return.
