A number of roads were partly closed after heavy rain struck Lancaster and Morecambe earlier this morning (Monday June 13). Parts of Torrisholme Road, near to the bridge, Owen Road and Morecambe Road were flooded and a number of motorists were at a standstill.

Torrisholme Bridge, the side via Morecambe, was closed from 10am until 3.15pm, after it was submerged in four feet of water.

A car was trapped in the water and police and fire crews were called at around 10.30am this morning (Monday June 13). No one was in the car.
