There are massive tailbacks on the M6 Southbound after a multi-vehicle crash closed two lanes.
The incident involving four cars happened between J31A Longridge and J31 Samlesbury at around 4.45pm.
Two lanes were closed but have since re-opened, it is believed there are no injuries but the accident caused congestion that tailed back to J32, M55 the Broughton Interchange.
The accident also caused major congestion around the A6 in Fulwood.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “We attended a four car road traffic collision.
“No-one was trapped.
“The 999 caller reported seeing smoke coming from a vehicle on fire.
“But it was most probably steam from a fractured radiator or airbag powder and there was no fire.
“The firefighters assisted in making scene safe.”
