The mural has been commissioned by the West End Million Partnership in response to a public call out for a high impact project, at the West End festival.

The painting has been painted by local artist Shane Johnstone.

Originally a fairground artist in Blackpool and Morecambe, Shane has worked in the film industry, London theatre, commercial arts and special education.

He is also well known for his high profile work in Morecambe, notably the iconic Venus and Cupid sculpture and more recently for his collaborations with Kate Drummond on the Trip the Light Fantastic and Take the Plunge Murals at the site of the former Super Swimming Stadium.

The project aims to present a positive and uplifting message of hope and cheerfulness, and to signal the start of the West End Million project that will bring multiple improvements and increased collaborative working to the area.

Everyone is welcome to join the unveiling which will include free refreshments
