Uni staff to strike in national pensions row

STUDENTS at Lancaster University are set to be hit by the first UK-wide university strike action in five years.

Members of the University and College Union (UCU) at Lancaster University are due to begin the first of two days’ strike action on Tuesday in a row over pensions.

The staff are taking the action in protest against changes to the University Superannuation Scheme (USS) pension fund. Lancaster is one of 63 UK universities taking industrial action over the changes to USS.

Yesterday, Thursday, universities in Scotland took strike action and kicked off the UK-wide disruption.
