A Pilling girl fell hook, line and sinker for her fiancé when he staged an underwater proposal at the Sealife Centre.
Tom Seaton was angling for a yes when he popped the question to Eve Ramsay in the giant fish tank in Manchester.
Fortunately for joiner Tom, Eve thinks he is a great catch and the pair have been hooked up for four years.
With help from the staff and dive team, Tom held up signs reading: “There are plenty of fish in the sea but you’re the one for me,” and “Will you marry me?”
The 21-year-olds were watched by a number of sea creatures, including a giant turtle, as well as visitors who looked on through the glass.
Tom then produced the ring from inside a large model shark egg, or ‘mermaid’s purse.’
Tom said: “She had no idea, she was a bit curious as to why I was acting so strange beforehand.
“When we entered the tank I got a bit more nervous but of course I was relieved when she said yes – I mean why wouldn’t she?”
Eve, an NHS accountant, loves marine life, so the setting was right up her street.
She had no idea Tom was planning to reel her in and was overwhelmed with the effort from her future husband.
Eve said: “I was completely in shock.
“I saw all these people watching, it was quite public but private as well.
“Obviously we couldn’t talk but I nodded as best as I could.
I was absolutely blubbering, I had my hair stuck to my tears.
I had to help him put the ring on me because he was shaking so much.
“He thought of absolutely everything, every little detail, even my diamond in the ring had aqua marine in.
“I know no one forgets the day they get proposed to but this just blows everything out of the water, excuse the pun.”
The couple are currently searching for a house together and will start to plan their special day very soon.
