Zombie film with scenes inside Lancaster Castle to get UK TV premiere on Horror Channel
The former Lancaster Royal Grammar School pupil said the film had travelled wide since its release in 2018.

Hide AdPart of the film was shot within the former prison at Lancaster Castle, with zombie extras from Lancaster taking part.
It has had cinema screenings in Japan and Mexico - where it reached no 7 in the box office charts - as well as screenings across military bases in the UK and overseas to some of the armed forces.
It has also been shown on Netflix in the UK, Canada and Australia and Showtime in the US.

Hide AdThe film also came to Lancaster Vue Cinema in October 2018, where Chee hosted a question and answer session.Actors from the film also came to Lancaster HMV for a launch and signing in March 2019.

The story of the independent action/ horror/ war film Redcon-1 is a fascinating journey for British-Chinese writer, director and producer Chee Keong Cheung.

Hide AdRedcon-1 follows the story of eight soldiers who are sent on a suicide mission to extract a scientist amidst a viral outbreak in the UK which has led most of the country under quarantine.
The scientist they believe may be the key to finding the cure.
A five year journey to bring the film to screen, the film was shot across the UK featuring tanks, helicopters, humvees and over 1500 background artists on screen.

Hide AdThe ambitious film has seen Cheung premiere the film at Raindance Film Festival (attended by Rogue One and Godzilla director Gareth Edwards who Cheung tracked down in passing in a cinema lobby) to going on to book the film for a traditional theatrical release in the UK working in partnership with Vue Cinemas as well as Cineworld,
Reel, Showcase and Odeon and various indie cinemas with over 60 plus cinemas booked.
The film went on to be released theatrically in Japan, Malaysia and most recently in Mexico where it screened in 374 theatres entering no 7 at the top 10 box office.

Hide AdThe film was also picked up by Netflix in the UK, Australia and Canada and released by Dread in the US and recently picked up by Showtime.
The film was described by Starburst Magazine as a 'badass British mashup of The Raid and 28 Weeks Later'.
Cheung also teamed up to form a partnership with the Forces Cinemas to organise free screenings for serving troops at military bases across the UK and in Cyprus.

Hide AdRedcon-1's military advisor Terry Crosby, a former Sergeant Major in the British armed forces who served in Iraq suffered PTSD.
Terry has openly credited his onset film experience as helping him with his recovery.
For the UK home entertainment release zombie walks were organised across the UK with many of the zombies onscreen taking part following a well received 30 date, 30 city tour Cheung arranged and attended along with actor and co-producer Mark Strange and also joining, Carlos Gallardo, perhaps best known for his role as actor and producer in Robert Rodriguez' debut feature film El Mariachi.
The screenings were followed by Q and As.

Hide AdCheung also had a tank drive round parts of the UK with a few zombies on it to promote the release as well as gave talks at universities across the UK on the making of Redcon-1 to film students.
Cheung managed to attract Gallardo as an exec producer as well as Co-creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Kevin Eastman and also Producer of Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Stephen L'Heureux.
During the post production Cheung managed to enlist the services of Stanley Kubrick's editor on Full Metal Jacket, Martin Hunter (he tracked him down and flew out to meet him in Sweden), Chris Gill (editor of 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later) as well as undertaking the VFX in Romania and recruiting VFX artists from The Crown and also Thor: Ragnarok.

Hide AdRedcon-1 picked up a series of awards and was the winner of the Best Action Feature Film playing at the HBO/ Cinemax 6th Annual Urban Action Showcase at Times Square, New York.
The film also picked up Best Actor, Best Action Sequence, Best Weapons Sequence and Best Visual FX.
The film also won Best Thriller at the National Film Awards in London beating Annihilation with the film voted by the public and most recently won Best SFX and Best VFX at Action on Film Festival in Las Vegas where it was also nominated for Action Film of the Year.

Hide AdThe trailer alone on the Brit Flicks website has amassed over 1.5 million views.
Screenings also included in El Paso where Carlos Gallardo and Cheung visited a school to share there inspirational stories as part of the Binational film festival as well as screenings at the BFI as part of the BFI Future Film Festival.
The film and Cheung has also caught the eye of some high profiled creatives including George C. Romero son of legendary George A. Romero.

Hide AdCast of Redcon-1 includes Oris Erhuero (Highlander: Endgame), Mark Strange (IP Man 4: The Finale), Carlos Gallardo (El Mariachi), Katarina Waters (Former WWE and TNA Wrestler), Martyn Ford (The Nevers), Akira Koieyama (Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist) and Jasmine Mitchell in her debut role.
The film has also been released in Germany, Italy, South Korea, Middle East, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand.
