Sections of the reserve's trails and the car park re-opened at the end of May, however the visitor centre, shop, cafe and all hides remain closed.

But the 9m high Skytower re-opened on Wednesday June 8, giving "a real sense of the scale of this fantastic wetland reserve, up here in the corner of Morecambe Bay".

Visitor Experience Manager Jon Carter said: "There's plenty going on. I've seen Bearded Tits this week, Ospreys fishing out on the causeway pool, and a Marsh Harrier just drifting out there at the moment.

An accessible toilet is available for reserve visitors, and the car par is open from 9.30am to 5pm daily, however if it is full, people are asked not to park on nearby roadside verges.

Members of the RSPB Leighton Moss team will be present to welcome visitors and to provide information regarding access.
