Total number of coronavirus deaths at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, according to health trust

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust (UHMBT) announced the latest death - a woman in her 80s - on Sunday March 29.

The trust said the woman had underlying health problems.

Aaron Cummins, Chief Executive at UHMBT said: "We can confirm that, sadly, a further patient has died who tested positive for COVID-19 whilst being treated at our hospitals.

“A woman has died in her 80s while being treated at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, she had underlying health conditions and died in the past two days.

"Our thoughts and condolences remain with the lady’s family and loved ones, and we would ask that their privacy is respected at this difficult time."

On Saturday March 28, the trust announced two deaths at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary - a woman aged 95, and a woman aged 79, who had underlying health conditions.

Three deaths were announced on Friday March 27 - a 72 year-old man, a 90-year-old man, and an 89 year-old woman.

They all had underlying health conditions.

These were the first deaths of people who tested positive for COVID-19 at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary announced by the trust.

There are now 1,645 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the North West as of Monday, March 30.

The latest figures from Public Health England show that ​there are a total of 19,522 confirmed cases in the UK today.

A total of 1,228 deaths have been recorded nationwide.

Yesterday (Sunday, March 29), 2,433 new cases were confirmed across the country, with 209 deaths recorded in 24 hours.
