Teen in hospital after crash in Morecambe leaves her with serious life-changing injuries

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 19-year-old woman received serious and life-changing head and facial injuries.

The incident occurred in Oxcliffe Road at around 3am on Saturday April 11.

The car, a Citroen C3, being driven towards Lancaster, left the road and hit a hedge and wooden fence, before ending up back in the carriageway.

No other vehicles or people are thought to have been involved.

The road was closed for around four hours while accident investigators attended.

Police are now appealing for anybody who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Sgt Andy Halliwell, of the Lancashire Police TacOps team, said: “This was an extremely serious collision and we are appealing to anybody who saw it, or who was in the area and saw the Citroen in the moments before the collision, to come forward.

“We understand people may be reluctant to come forward during this time especially if they have not been following the government guidelines about staying at home but I would reassure them that our immediate concern is to find out what happened and I would urge anyone who has any information, no matter how insignificant they may feel it to be, to come forward and speak to us.”
