The application site is adjacent to the associated Gospel Hall in Oakwood Way, which is owned and run by the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church.

The applicants are also the landowners Strong Developments Ltd, a company formed specifically to develop Carnforth Business Park, and associated with the Church.

The site as a whole was granted outline planning permission for various uses in May 2011, and is very close to the M6 motorway Junction 35.

The plans are for a 300sqm food retail space with 20 parking spaces, open from 6am to 6pm Monday to Saturday.

The shop will be operated for the benefit of those attending the adjacent church only and will be run by volunteers, with all profits donated to charity.

The applicant says that the shop will not be open for visiting members of the pubic and therefore will not compete with the existing retail offer in Carnforth town centre or on the nearby housing estate.
