The proposals, submitted by Carnforth based Fellside Land Developments Ltd, are for four two bed, six three bed and six four bed homes to the west of Mossgate Park with access from Silverdale Avenue.

The company has previously built six new homes nearby known as Mossgate Quarter.

The 16 homes would be built on an area of scrub land, which was previously part of a field prior to the construction of the nearby Heysham Youth, Community & Children’s Centre and sports facilities.

As part of the planning process the applicant contacted Heysham Mossgate Sports & Community Centre to get their views on the proposal.

As a result, the developer has installed a new tarmac footpath linking the site to Mossgate Park, which is now well used by residents.

As part of the new scheme, Fellside has agreed to Tarmac the footpaths to the east and south of the football pitch to provide a safer standing area for spectators/passers-by.

The developer has also agreed to carry out some improvements to the access road into the leisure centre and has purchased part of the land to the south of the football pitch facing Eagle Close.

It said it will be giving this land to Heysham Mossgate Sports & Community Centre as part of the overall development, which they can use for public benefit or open space.
