No new Covid-19 deaths in last five weeks at Morecambe Bay hospitals

There have been no new coronavirus deaths recorded by Morecambe Bay's health trust in more than five weeks.

The last death was recorded on Tuesday August 18, and was one of only two deaths recorded in August according to the latest figures for University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust from Public Health England.

Six new positive cases had been recorded in Lancaster on Wednesday September 23, bringing the total number of positive cases recorded in Lancaster to 1,020.

The total number of people who have died after testing positive for Covid-19 stands at 171 at hospitals across Morecambe Bay - which includes the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Furness General Hospital in Barrow.

The figures do not include deaths within the community or in nursing homes.

Another 1,381 people have tested positive in the North West, bringing the region's total number of cases to 70,831 as of Wednesday, September 23, 2020.
