No coronavirus deaths at Royal Lancaster Infirmary, says health trust

There have been no confirmed Covid-19 deaths at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust has said.

The trust said there had been one patient death recorded at Furness General Hospital in Barrow on March 21.

There have been reports of cases in various parts of the Lancaster district, including Hornby, Heysham and Morecambe, but the trust said it did not comment on individual cases.

Public Health England is releasing daily figures via an online dashboard.

Initially, Lancashire County Council was breaking down the figures for local areas, but this is no longer the case.

There are 415 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the North West of England as of today (Monday, March 23), with 44 of these in Lancashire, and 79 in Cumbria.

The latest figures from Public Health England show that ​there are a total of 5,683 confirmed cases in the UK today.

This is an increase of 665 since yesterday (up from 5,018).

A total of 281 deaths have been recorded nationwide.

UHMBT advised residents to follow the government's advice and stay at home, minimise social contact and avoid unnecessary travel.
