The club said in a statement that the pandemic has had an effect on its finances, but it is in a stronger position than others, however it is launching the initiative to ensure that the club, its suppliers, and its partners, can meet financial commitments, despite there being no football in the short-term.

The campaign will include match ticket packages, centenary kit pre-orders, sponsorship opportunities and VIP experiences for the upcoming 2020/21 season.

The club will also donate one match ticket for the 2020/21 season to Morecambe Bay NHS and key workers, for every £100 raised in the campaign.

It will also offer fans the opportunity to donate further rewards to the Trust as part of the scheme.

Commercial manager Martin Thomas said: “The current pandemic stretches way beyond the football industry.

"However, the club feels a very real sense of responsibility to do everything it can to support our stakeholders – many of them members of the Shrimps faithful themselves.

“It is not enough for us to simply sit tight and hope that it all blows over.

"By bringing forward a number of opportunities for next season, we are able to ensure cash flow in the short term, whilst also giving a little back to our local NHS heroes who are working so incredibly hard to keep us all safe and healthy.

“As a community club at the heart of the local area, we are aware of the devastating impact that COVID-19 is having, and we are doing all we can to play our part in contributing to a community response.

"We are primarily concerned for the health and safety of our staff, fans and the entire Morecambe community, but we are also focusing considerable efforts on overcoming the considerable economic challenge that the unprecedented situation presents.’’
