Lancaster McDonald's queue snakes off into distance as fast food drive-thru re-opens

Caton Road in Lancaster became a huge traffic tailback this week as people queued for a McDonald's.

The fast food chain re-opened its drive-thru offer on Wednesday, June 4, which left Caton Road coming out of the city at a standstill.

McDonald's said Perspex screens, face coverings, gloves and social distancing measures were in place.

It said it would be offering a limited menu and a £25 spending cap.

Queues similar to the one in Lancaster could be seen right across the country as the American chain - famous for its Big Macs and McChicken Sandwiches - re-opened after more than 10 weeks following the coronavirus outbreak.

The Caton Road restaurant opened in December 2016 bringing 80 new jobs to the area.
