Lancaster bank branch re-brand after £1.7bn takeover

Yorkshire Bank in Penny Street will be rebranded as Virgin Money, after a major takeover announced in 2018.

Plans have been submitted to Lancaster City Council to change the signage on the building from the Yorkshire Bank logos to Virgin Money.

In 2018, Virgin Money was taken over by the Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank Group (CYBG) for £1.7bn.

As part of the merger, the Clydesdale and Yorkshire bank brands will disappear from the high street and be switched over to Virgin Money.

A statement on Yorkshire Bank's website reads: "Our branch network all across the UK will be getting a Virgin Money makeover.

"Over the next few months you'll start to see changes like a new sign above the door and a fresh new uniform for our colleagues.

"You’ll start to see our new logo on things like statements and emails.

"Our website is getting the full Virgin Money treatment and we’ll answer the phone as Virgin Money too.

The Penny Street branch is open now but on reduced opening hours due to Covid 19.

All branches will be rebranded to Virgin Money by the end of spring 2021.
