First Covid-19 related death recorded at Morecambe Bay hospitals in over a month

One person has died this week after testing positive for Covid-19 at hospitals run by University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Trust.

This is the first death recorded by the trust in more than a month, according to new figures from Public Health England.

The death was recorded on Wednesday, August 12.

The last two deaths were recorded on July 11 and 12.The total number of Covid-19 related deaths at hospitals across Morecambe Bay - which include the Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Furness General Hospital in Barrow - stands at 170.

The figures do not include deaths within the community or in nursing homes.

As of August 10, 399 people had been discharged home from Morecambe Bay hospitals after being treated for coronavirus.
