Police would now like to speak to anyone who saw what happened, or who saw either of the vehicles in the moments before the collision.

Sgt Martin Wilcock, of Lancaster Police, said: “The cyclist was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment for serious, potentially life-changing injuries, and we are working hard to piece together exactly what occurred.

“We are now asking anybody with information about the collision to get in touch with us as soon as possible. Perhaps you have dashcam which shows what happened, or maybe you live in the area and have CCTV footage of it.

“Whatever you saw, or whatever information you have, please get in touch as soon as possible.”

Anybody with information is asked to contact the police on 101, quoting log number 687 of April 20th.
