Tyson Fury World Championship Countdown

Tyson will step into the ring in Dusseldorf, Germany, to face formidable champion Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday, October 24.

It will be history in the making, the first time ever that a professional boxer who lives in our town will fight for the world heavyweight title.

It has never happened before. And it may never happen again.

This, after all, was the championship once held by legends like Muhammad Ali, George Foreman and Mike Tyson. This is the heavyweight crown known as the richest prize in sport.

The brash 6ft9in Fury has held the British, English, European, Irish and Commonwealth titles.

The 27-year-old is undefeated in 24 contests.

His opponent Klitschko, from the Ukraine, is the reigning WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring magazine world heavyweight champion.

The 39-year-old is undefeated in 11 years and fought a record 28 world heavyweight championship fights in his career.

Bookies have Manchester-born Fury as a 3-1 underdog, with Klitschko a 4-1 on favourite.
