Trust in bid to recruit midwives for bay units

Midwives and children’s nurses from University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust travelled to Telford in a bid to find skilled and experienced staff to join the Trust.

A team from the Trust’s Women and Children’s division will be showcasing services and promoting careers in the division to more than 1,000 midwives, student midwives, and other health professionals at the two day national Royal College of Midwives’ Annual Conference in Telford.

Sascha Wells, Deputy Director of Midwifery, and Paula Evans, Assistant Chief Nurse for Children and Young People, have teamed up with Katy Stretch, HR Business Partner; Geraldine Robinson, Maternity Unit Manager; Lyndsey Pratt,

Clinical Leader, Children’s Ward; and Morven Douglas, Preceptorship Midwife, to talk to delegates about the many career opportunities available at the Trust.

Sascha Wells, said: “Over the past three years, we have heavily invested in our maternity and children’s services, and have successfully recruited a large number of midwives, qualified children’s nurses, and support workers.

“Due to significant further investment, we now have vacancies for midwives, clinical

leaders, neonatal nurses and ward managers across our hospitals. “
