Tributes paid after fatal crash

TRIBUTES have been paid to a 23-year-old mechanic who died in a collision on his way to work.

Samuel Lishman was driving along the A683 near Hornby at 8.35am on Tuesday when his Ford Focus was involved in a collision with a Renault Traffic van on a bend.

Hornby firefighters, police and paramedics arrived were called to the scene.

Among the first people to arrive were a North West Ambulance Service paramedic, who was nearby at the time, and Samuel’s boss at Arkholme-based trailer firm Acorn Trading, Ted Harrison, who was also driving to work and happened upon the scene.

Samuel was dragged out of the car and received treatment from the paramedic before being taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
