Travellers park up at Morecambe Winter Gardens

Travellers have set up camp at the car park at the back of Morecambe Winter Gardens.

A camp was also set up at the weekend at the St Leonard’s Gate car park near to the Lancaster Grand Theatre.

A notice was served by the council yesterday lunchtime on the occupiers of an encampment which had been set up on Upper St. Leonard’s Gate Car Park in Lancaster.

A Lancaster City Council spokesman said: “The occupants of the encampment have now complied with the notice which gave them until noon today (March 22) to vacate the land which is owned by Lancaster City Council.

“The council is also aware of an encampment on the Winter Gardens Car Park in Morecambe. This car park is privately owned and it is the responsibility of the landowner to make arrangements for the occupiers to vacate the land.”
