The taxi rank at Lancaster Bus Station will be relocating to Dalton Square in the city while United Utilities carries out a major programme of sewer works.
The rank will be relocating from Tuesday, April 2 and will operate from there 24 hours a day until the works are completed in April 2014.
During the night (11.30pm to 6.30am) taxis will also be able to drop off and pick up from Wood Street car park.
Leaflets outlining the changes have been delivered to all Hackney proprietors and those who use the bus station rank to distribute to their customers and posters have also been put up in various prominent positions.
The customer service centres and VICs in Lancaster and Morecambe also stock copies of the leaflets outlining the changes.
Alternatively you can visit the United Utilities website at www.unitedutilities.com/lancaster for information about the changes to taxi ranks, where to catch a bus during the works and the background to the scheme.
Coun Tony Johnson, chairman of Lancaster City Council’s licensing committee, said: “It is unfortunately inevitable that the works that United Utilities are undertaking will have an impact on the public, businesses and other organisations in Lancaster.
“The relocation of the taxi rank was carefully considered and whilst it may not be an ideal solution, Dalton Square proposal is considered to be the only viable option by County Highways.”
