Motorcyclist dies in hospital two weeks after crash near Lancaster

A man has died in hospital two weeks after his bike crashed in Wennington, near Lancaster.

Damian McNamara, 52, suffered serious injuries when his Triumph motorcycle collided with a Peugeot Partner Tepee car travelling in the opposite direction on the B6480 at around 6.45pm on Friday, February 28.

Mr McNamara, from Leeds, was rushed to hospital where he remained for two weeks before dying from his injuries on March 12.

His family have paid tribute to him, describing him as “a loving son and brother”.

The driver of the Peugeot, a 77-year-old man from Bentham, was not injured.

The road was closed for four hours while accident investigators attended the scene.

Lancashire Police are continuing to investigate how the accident happened.

Sgt Helen Parkinson of Lancashire Police said: "First and foremost our thoughts are with Mr McNamara’s family and friends at this sad time.

"Our investigation into the collision is very much continuing and we are asking anyone who saw the incident or has any dashcam footage of it, or of either vehicle in the moments before the collision, to contact us straight away."
