One lane of the southbound entry slip road at junction 34 (Halton Interchange) was closed to help firefighters tackle the fire.
The trailer of the lorry was well alight when fire crews from Lancaster and Morecambe arrived.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus, a thermal imaging camera and a water jet to extinguish the flames.
