Hide AdEngineers are repairing the fault on the tracks between Milton Keynes and Rugby.
It means Avanti West Coast trains are unable to leave London Euston for Preston, with disruption expected to continue until around 3pm.
Avanti said ticket acceptance is in agreement with other rail providers, and passengers can claim a refund at point of purchase if they decide not to travel.
But ticket acceptance is not in place for travel tomorrow.
