BMW drink driver crashes into M6 central reservation near Lancaster

A BMW driver has crashed into the central reservation of the M6 near Lancaster this morning (Monday, December 21).

Police and ambulance crews rushed to the scene of the crash, between northbound junctions 34 and 35, at around 7am.

Officers tweeted pictures of the wrecked BMW, which has suffered significant damage in the crash.

Lancashire Road Police said the driver had been driving "at speed" on the wet motorway whilst allegedly over the drink driving limit.

The driver has been reported for driving offences, said the force.

The force Tweeted: "Bright Spark Award 2020... Please meet the driver in last place.. . Driving on very wet motorway ( M6 Junc 34-35) at speed after having a "tipple" the night before and stuffing his BMW into the central res.. V minor injuries."

North West Ambulance Service added that the driver had been taken to hospital with minor inujuries.
