Motorists reportedly faced delays of nearly "30 minutes" following a crash on the M6 southbound between junctions 34 (Halton Interchange) and 33 (Hampson Green Interchange) today (October 7).

Two lanes were closed as a result of the collision - which occurred at around 8.50am - and traffic was building in the area.

But Highways England have confirmed the vehicle has been removed and all lanes have reopened.

A spokesman for Highways England said: "This vehicle has now been recovered. Lane closures have been removed."

The incident was causing problems on surrounding roads as traffic looked to divert, with congestion building along roads leading into Lancaster - such as the A589 Caton Road.
