Train death at Lancaster

A man has died after being hit by a train near Lancaster station.

The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

Emergency services were called to the line close to Lancaster station shortly after 6am on Friday, August 29. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers were working to identify the man and inform his family.

Rail passengers were facing delays at Lancaster train station after the incident on Friday morning.

Routes between Morecambe and Lancaster, Morecambe and Leeds, Glasgow and London, and Edinburgh and Birmingham were affected.

Extra bus services were running from Carnforth, Carlisle and Preston.

Disruption to rail services was expected to last until 11.15am.
