A popular pub in Torrisholme has undergone a massive £320,000 refurbishment.
The George on Lancaster Road has a new kitchen area leading to the recruitment of a brand new team.
The investment is a joint partnership between pub companies Daniel Thwaites and Inglenook Inns & Taverns and the management team at The George, brothers Matt and Karl Dobson.
The Lancaster Road pub has been closed for seven weeks while extensive improvement work was carried out and it reopened on May 26.
Regular visitors will find the inside of the building has been totally transformed, with a new bar, creation of additional sports elements and a bright, modern theme.
The result is a stylish and welcoming venue, offering a traditional pub menu with a modern and local twist.
The new menu will offer everything from local dishes like Morecambe Bay potted shrimps to
traditional classics such as pies and the all-important Sunday roast.
And for those who think they’re up for it, there’s something a bit different in store with the creation of a ‘rib challenge’.
Managing Director of Inglenook Inns & Taverns, James Waddington, said: “We always endeavour tomake our pubs the pivotal part of the community and I think we have really succeeded here. There is something for everyone. A great new team and a new menu served in a relaxed setting.”
Andrew Buchanan, Director of Pub Operations at Daniel Thwaites, said: “The George is an excellent, contemporary local pub and it’s looking great following this investment, which is one of the biggest refurbishments of a pub we have completed in the last year.
“Matt and Karl are so enthusiastic and keen to welcome everyone. The changes made will provide even more reasons to visit the pub and turn it into a focal point of the community.”
