Staff and youngsters at Nether Kellet Playgroup had double reason to celebrate recently with the news of their ‘outstanding’ Ofsted report coinciding with some of the children ‘graduating’ from the group.
The inspection found that children are highly motivated and consistently demonstrate the characteristics of effective learning.
The children have access to an extremely stimulating playgroup, both indoors and outdoors, which effectively supports them and promotes their learning.
Inspectors noted that there is “an extremely sharp focus on helping children to acquire communication and language skills, and supporting physical, personal, social and emotional development.”
As a result, the report says children are “exceptionally well prepared for school.”
Teaching at the playgroup is “highly effective” and assessment procedures are rigorous, meticulous and highly comprehensive.
Children learn to behave appropriately and staff are enthusiastic role models who help and support children to understand what acceptable behaviour is.
Relationships are exemplary and children learn about expected behaviours and respect for each other.
Inspectors said parents are “extremely happy” and comment very positively about the care and education their children receive.
