Tiny dog Kenzo paralysed in brutal Morecambe seafront attack

Michelle Gregory’s beloved chihuahuas Kenzo and Sanchez were set upon by two much larger dogs as she walked them on Morecambe promenade.

Four month old Kenzo suffered a fractured spine when one of the dogs seized him in its mouth. Two-year-old Sanchez was unhurt but Kenzo is in a veterinary hospital after a battle to save his life.

“The dog’s teeth went straight through his spinal column,” said Michelle.

“There was blood everywhere. He’s stable but in a bad way. I don’t know what kind of decision I’m going to have to make. It’s terrible what’s happened.”

Michelle said both dogs, which she said looked like “big Jack Russells” were on leads as they approached her on the seafront side of Marine Road West last Wednesday.

“They started to get a bit ‘barky’,” said Michelle. “Then they came towards us. Next thing one didn’t have its lead and collar on. It looked like he’d slipped out of it. The owner didn’t say anything. He walked off. He couldn’t control them. He couldn’t get his dog off my puppy.”

Kenzo is being cared for at Kentdale hospital, Crooklands, which specialises in animal spinal injuries.

Michelle warned people to be careful while out walking their dogs.
