Time capsule buried in Lancaster city centre

A time capsule has been buried at Lancaster's Marketgate Shopping Centre to mark the new Primark store opening on August 24.

The Mayor of Lancaster, Coun Robert Redfern marked the installation of the capsule which will be opened in 2066. It contains a group photograph of retailers, donated items and newspapers from that day.

As part of the campaign a drawing competition was opened with Ridge Primary School and Bowerham Primary School submitting entries.

The children drew pictures of Lancaster in 50 years time. Winners were from Ridge Primary School, Layton Mason, seven and from Bowerham Primary School, Zack Walker eight, Alex Coombs, eight, Ruth Graves, 10, Naufal, nine and Aasiah 10.
