A GALGATE woman through and through celebrated her 100th birthday last week with family and friends.

Annie Myerscough lived in Church Street for her whole life, only recently moving to Abbeyfield Nursing Home in Scotforth.

Annie was the second youngest of seven children, and went to school in Galgate until she was 14.

She then went to work at Galgate Silk Mill until she retired, just prior to its closure.

She joined Galgate Over 60s club, and stayed with the club until she was 90.

Annie never married, and has no children, but she has plenty of nieces and nephews who she enjoys spending time with.

She also loves sport, especially snooker and football.

Annie puts her long life down to hard work and contentment, and received her telegram from the Queen at a party Abbeyfield last Friday.
