Teenage farmer’s daughter becomes star for a day

A farmer’s daughter who won a charity talent contest has become a recording star for a day.

Part of Faye Bowness’ prize for winning the Charity Stars final at the Lancaster Grand was to record songs at The Bay radio studios on St George’s Quay.

So soprano Faye, 16, took a break from GCSE examination swotting to be interviewed by The Bay’s drive-time show presenter Darren Milby, who was also one of the competition judges, and then recorded three songs during the video session.

She sang ‘Pie Jesu’, her competition-winning song, as well as Emeli Sande’s ‘Read All About It’ and “Wishing You Were Here Again’ from Phantom of the Opera.

Faye, from Milnthorpe, also collected a £1,000 cheque for North West Air Ambulance when she was chosen as the winner in February thanks to her incredible operatic vocals.

She said: “It was a fantastic experience and the icing on the cake after winning the big cash prize for the North West Air Ambulance which provides such fantastic life-saving support for farming families like ours.”
