The month of resolutions and new targets is upon us.

As 2015 begins so too does the race to take on the almighty Born Survivor obstacle course on April 4 all for a good cause.

The Visitor and its sister paper the Lancaster Guardian have teamed up with Lancaster gym, Fitness Formation, and Born Survivor to raise £100,000 toward the Save Our Hospice campaign for St John’s in Lancaster.

We are bidding to break the Guinness World Record for the biggest team ever to take part in an organised obstacle course event – by bringing together 1,000 people for Born Survivor at Lowther Castle, in the Lake District.

Hundreds have already joined to be a part of the Born Heroes team.

It will be the second time Karen Roberts has taken part in the military style obstacle course.

Karen, a Fitness Formation member, said: “I’m doing Born Survivor for the second time to help save our hospice and to support the great work they do.

“Lots of people have been touched by the work the hospice does and it is a vital service to the community.”

Karen works next door to the hospice at Beaumont College and often sees just how important their care is.

She said: “Born Survivor is a hard and challenging course but when you cross the line it’s worth every penny knowing you have helped a good cause, so I urge people to join Born Heroes and if not to sponsor.”
