Swiss dream for bass player George
As the 21-year-old bassist from Hoghton attended Tech Music School in London, he was singled out by singer Charline Mathez, who asked him to join her band - Charlyn.
Eighteen months later he has recorded an EP and has been invited to play at many gigs, including the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland.

George said: “A few weeks ago we released our first EP and had a launch party in Switzerland, as that is where Charline is from. Our manager, who is Charline’s dad, got us a slot at the Montreux Jazz Festival. We will play July 15 and 16, which is at the end of the festival and the busiest time.
"When we went out to Switzerland for our launch party, we never thought we would play at one of Switzerland’s largest festivals.
“The crowd there is unbelievable. People in Switzerland enjoy what we play and we have had so much great feedback.”

They produced a five-track EP as part of an assignment at university, and as they wish to get a distribution deal, they are currently working on an album to be released in December.
They will be playing at The Good Ship, in London, on August 11, and plan to add more gigs in the city.
George added: “It is great we have a following in Switzerland, but we also want to establish ourselves in London and the UK.

“We are excited about doing the album. Going from an EP to an album means our songs have to be exceptional. It is a different process and it has to be right. But as a band, we are really good at coming up with ideas.”
George, who attended St Michael’s CE High School, in Chorley, is amazed with his success and is looking forward to a bright future.
He said: “As there are only a few bass players at Tech Music College, I knew I would be in a band, but I never thought I would be in this band and we would be big in Switzerland.
"The success of this band in such a short space of time is unbelievable.”
