Stretch of M6 motorway shut after two lorries collide

A cement mixer has shed its load after a collision between two HGVs on the M6 motorway, a police spokesman said.

There was traffic gridlock after the incident at 2.45pm on Thursday between junctions 33 and 34 on the M6 southbound with the stretch of motorway set to be closed overnight.

A diversion was in place causing congestion in rush hour traffic around Lancaster city centre.

There was no information about any injuries.
