Two district sports clubs are celebrating after securing a £50,000 National Lottery grant.
The Vale of Lune Rugby Club and Morecambe and Heysham Yacht Club have been given the boost as part of the £40 million Olympic Legacy cash from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities fund.
Both will use the money to improve their clubhouses.
Vale of Lune chairman Geoff Marsden, said, “We are over the moon at receiving this terrific news.
“The roof has been a problem for many years, despite regular repairs and maintenance, and is effectively now well past its sell by date.
“We shall also replace the frontage, which will include double glazing, to provide a pleasanter environment, a saving on heating bills whilst improving our own carbon footprint.
“Our many regular users of the club will be delighted at this super development.”
Phil Preston, Morecambe and Heysham Yacht Club commodore, said: “It’s a great move forward for the club and will increase the opportunity to get more people sailing on Morecambe Bay.”
They are amongst 1,300 sports projects nationwide to have received a share of the funding.
