Slideshow: Thousands trip the light fantastic

The four-day Light Up Lancaster festival last weekend was hailed as a great success by businesses, arts organisations, the council and visitors to the city.

Thousands of people headed into Lancaster and joined locals in celebrating the city’s iconic landmarks, before being treated to a 20-minute fireworks display, considered to be one of the best in the region.

Lancaster Guardian photographers were out and about taking pictures at the various events and we have received some great photos from members of the public as well.

Staff from the Lancaster Guardian and The Visitor were also at The Giant Axe, one of the official viewing areas, to launch the Save Our Hospice campaign for St John’s Hospice alongside the fireworks.
