Spring has sprung in the Lancashire countryside with the arrival of the first lambs this year.
The Miller family, who have run Cobble Hey Farm & Gardens, off Hobbs Lane, Claughton on Brock, near Garstang, for three generations, welcomed the newest members of their flock this month, and the three in our pictures won’t be the only new arrivals.
Edwina Miller said: “We have 700 ladies to lamb this year right through to April and we’ve already had three sets of triplets and two sets of twins.
“They have been born slightly earlier than usual but they’re from older ladies who have had lambs before so they know what they’re doing.
“It’s thanks to the good summer we had last year; the sheep are in good health.”
Edwina and her husband Dave have run the farm for more than 23 years and work alongside their son, David and his girlfriend, Charlotte.
And if a further reminder was needed that spring is just around the corner, a bumper crop of snowdrops have sprouted at Cobble Hey, forming an impressive carpet of white.
