SLIDESHOW: Crowds gather on Remembrance Sunday to remember war dead

Crowds gathered across the district on Remembrance Sunday to pay their respects to the fallen.

Services took place on Sunday in Morecambe, Lancaster and Carnforth as people came together to remember all who died for their country in the two World Wars and also those injured or traumatised by more recent operations in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Iraq.

In Morecambe, a procession formed at The Platform for a service and two minutes silence at the Cenotaph on the promenade.

The Lancaster service began in the Garden of Remembrance at the town hall at 10.20am.

This was followed by a service in the Priory Church at 11.30am.

Then there was a parade and march leaving the Priory Church and ending at Lancaster Town Hall at approximately 12.20pm.

A parade left the Carnforth Town Council offices at 10.35am for a service and wreath laying ceremony at the Cenotaph.

The ceremonies in Morecambe, Lancaster and Carnforth were deeply moving.

Two minutes silence will be observed at the Cenotaph on the promenade at Morecambe today at 11am to remember the war dead.
