More than 800 runners turned up on Sunday to raise money for Lancaster St John’s Hospice.

Families and friends gathered for the 5km fun run along the promenade to get splattered with five different colours of paint. Every runner received a medal at the end to mark their achievement.

Last year over £22,000 was raised for the Slyne Road hospice.

Catherine Butterworth, head of fundraising at St John’s, said: “When we held our first colour dash this time last year it was something new for us all and we really didn’t know how well it would do but we have been blown away by its popularity.

“Events like the colour dash, along with our wonderful supporters, help keep the hospice doors open.

“In 2016 we turn 30 years old, and in that time our doors have been open every single hour of every day.”
