Sit-in to help fund Snoopy’s op

Three dog lovers donned animal print onesies to stage a 24-hour sit-in to raise funds for a puppy desperately in need of life-changing surgery.

The volunteers at Lancaster charity Animal Care are trying to raise £7,000 for cross-breed Snoopy, who needs surgery on his hips to enable him to walk pain-free.

Animal Care has set up a separate fundraising account for those who want to help Snoopy. And £2,000 has already been raised.

Sanctuary volunteer Caroline Moorby, who took part in ther event along with fellow volunteers Karen Needham and Kerry McKay, said: “We had great fun, although it was a bit spooky at night up there on our own with the doggies!

“We want to say a big thank you to everyone who has donated and who came up to encourage us, especially on Sunday when we were tired and cold!”

Snoopy is currently on medication for the pain he’s in, and needs the surgery to be able to live a pain-free life.

He is only 10 months old and is unable to have the operation until he is a year old, when his bones will be fully formed.

Snoopy will be treated by Bay Vets, and will need after care and physiotherapy after the surgery. He is due to be re-assessed later this month to see when he will be ready for his operation.

A sponsored swimathon and spring fete is the next event being held to help Snoopy, which is at Hest Bank Kennels on Saturday March 14, 10am until 4pm.

Everyone is invited to go along – there will be refreshments and stalls as well as time slots for people who have booked in for their dogs to have a swim.
