Singers prepare for Charity Stars final competition

Performers can win a share of more than £3,000 in prizes in the final of the Charity Stars talent competition organised by Furness Building Society and The Bay Radio.

Two Wild Card entries voted in by the public completed the line-up of 14 acts in the show.

Kate McCallum and Sally Featon will be using sign language to perform for 1 Voice Communicating Together in Morecambe, which provides services for people who cannot communicate by speaking. The second Wild Card winner was nine-year-old Olivia Hunter from Lancaster performing for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The other performers in the final are: the Red Rosettes Acapella Harmony Choir from Preston for North West Blood Bikers, Becky Halpin, aged 19, from Morecambe representing Unique Kidz Company, Gabrielle Dams, also 19 and from Morecambe on behalf of Martin House Children’s Hospice, Rachel Coombs, aged 16, from Hest Bank near Lancaster, representing St John’s Hospice, Rebecca Anne Wadeson, aged 14, appearing for Urban Angels Slyne with Hest and their Rebuild Mexico project, and 14-year-old dancer Brandon Hunter from Heysham is representing the children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent.

Megan Forrest from Kendal, aged 19, is singing for Kendal Mountain Rescue, Dave Bedford from Low Bentham is representing Sight Advice South Lakes, Alex McCormack, aged 12, from Barrow-in-Furness is appearing for the Lookin Good Feelin Good cancer support group in Furness, Christopher Barker, aged 25, also from Barrow is representing the town’s Cast Theatre Company, Rebecca Williams, aged 16, from Walney is singing for Barrow Vision Support Centre, and Keith Bateson and the Happy Yaks from Bolton aim to raise money for the Whizz Kidz wheelchair charity.
