Sight loss sufferers’ new web service

An online community has been launched specifically designed for people affected by sight loss as well as their families, friends and carers.

‘Action Connect’, the social-media type service is designed for anyone with sight loss who wants to link with others to share ideas, solutions, techniques and tips for everyday life; ask and answer questions, or simply share personal experiences.

The service has been launched by charity Action for Blind People.

Herbie Yon, regional area operations manager for the charity, said: “Action Connect enables people affected by sight loss to become involved in key aspects of Action for Blind People’s work.

“It also provides a forum for them to share their experiences and support each other through, often, traumatic experiences and anxiety about the future.” Action for Blind People’s regional team provides information and advice to communities across Lancashire and Cumbria.
